Chesterfield Township, Michigan is located
north of Mt. Clemens and
Harrison Township on the eastern edge of

Chesterfield Township, Michigan History / Facts
Chesterfield rates as one of Macomb County’s
fastest growing communities. Officials estimate the population at more than
30,000, with the number of registered voters at 22,000. Residents enjoy easy
access to water, parks and the I-94 freeway.
Public Safety
The Police Department operates out of a temporary headquarters located at 46525
Continental Drive in an industrial park near 21 Mile Road and I-94. The fire
station is located off of Jefferson Avenue near Sugarbush Road.
Business
The Ford Trim Plant on 23 Mile Road is the largest employer in the township,
with 23,000 workers. Neighboring Lionel produces model railroad trains cherished
by collectors around the world. There are around 700 registered businesses in
Chesterfield, and the number is growing.
Shopping
New stores are rising at 23 Mile and Gratiot. Most recently, a Home Depot
building center, Kohl's and a Texas Roadhouse restaurant have opened. Three more
strip malls are proposed in the township. Miles east are Bayside Mall and a
large plaza anchored by Kroger.
Library
Voters have approved funding for Chesterfield Library. A library board and
endowment foundation are looking for ways to raise capital for an eventual move
from the library’s current location in Bayside Mall.
Parks
Brandenburg Park is located on Jefferson and offers a view of Lake St. Clair.
The federally funded park also features a baseball diamond, volleyball and
tennis courts, playground, long fishing pier, boat launch and concession stand.
- Pollard Park, off I-94, is home to many baseball and softball fields and may see soccer fields and a hike/bike path in the future.
- A state site at Jefferson and Rosso Highway, near Selfridge, offers public access to Lake St. Clair.
Recreation
- Bowling- Salt River.
- Seniors- A senior center is located at the Township Offices. Many activities are held each week. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Big Events
- February- The daddy-daughter dance sells out.
- March- An egg hunt brings plenty of kids to Pollard Park. Young ladies compete to become the next Miss Chesterfield.
- April- Miss Chesterfield pageant.
- June-August- Music in the Park takes place at Brandenburg Park on Tuesday evenings.
- October- Mother-son outing.
- December- A good crowd always turns out for the annual tree-lighting ceremony at the township offices, where the high-school band plays as residents sing carols and treat themselves to hot chocolate.
